Reiki is beyond words, known through experience, not explanation. The word Reiki (pronounced ray - key) is Japanese. It is the made up of two words 'Rei' which means universal, in the sense of everywhere, and also 'Ki' which means the vital life force within every living thing, like the Indian 'prana' or the Chinese 'chi'. This force creates and sustains everything in existence and can be used to transform and recreate. Reiki can be translated as 'spiritually guided life energy'. Reiki is also the descriptive name for the Usui art of Natural Healing which was discovered and developed about one hundred years ago in Japan through the dedication and experience of Dr Mikao Usui.
