Javier Arevalo Shahuano, a fourth generation Peruvian shaman and his wife Jessica Ramirez Seopa are coming to the UK on the last week of May 2014 to hold a series of talks, clinics and events. They will then go to Croatia for June and return to the UK in July 2014 to hold another series of talks, clinics, weekend workshops and a week-long training programme for Acorn to Oak, at Gaunts House in Dorset.

Pennie and Luke first met Javier and Jessica in 2012 when they had first-hand experience of their shamanic healing work.  They formed an almost-instant bond, recognising kindred spirits and Pennie was drawn to the genius within their work.  In summer 2013, Javier and Jessica ran several shamanic healing clinics for Acorn to Oak; culminating in their hosting a satsanga evening of questions and answers about their work, attended by more than 25 people.

Ross Heaven and Howard Charing write in their book about the Medicine of Love “According to Javier Aravelo, a shaman from Iquitos, people are prone to such “madness” as a result of confusion, because “they do not know who they are or what they really want”.

His point was underlined a few years ago when he worked with a group of participants on a trip to the Amazon to take part in an ayahuasca ceremony. Prior to their ceremonies, he asked them what they wanted to heal. “Most gave spiritual or ‘cosmic’ answers and spoke of world peace and saving the planet”, said Javier. “And so I asked them again: what do you really want? This time they were more honest, all of them said that what they really wanted was love. This I could understand because their requests were real and personal this time, not about saving the world. But what puzzled me most of all - was that at first they had not felt entitled to ask for love or maybe had been conditioned not to know what they wanted.”

In Javier’s words: “Love solves problems and ayahuasca is the medicine of love. This is how plants really cure.”

(However) As powerful and important as they are, there is much more to Javier and Jessica’s work than ayahuasca ceremonies.  A personal healing with Javier and Jessica is an experience of true nurturing, gentleness and love – with palpable results. You only have to look into their eyes to feel confident that you are in very safe hands.  Javier reported early on in his connection with Pennie and Luke that he did not understand what people in the west meant by “stress” – it was an alien concept to him and his world.  He has, through meeting many westerners in his work here and in Europe, come to understand what stress is as experienced by us here and it was a huge moment of insight for him to realise that a large part of the “madness” he felt was due to stress – and people’s inability to be in the flow of life.

At Acorn to Oak we are all very excited about the training with Javier and Jessica.  The week-long workshop entitled “The Shaman’s Tools” teaches in-depth work about the healing of ourselves and others.  The first weekend of the course will be open to anyone who has an interest in Shamanic tools and ways of being and you will gain a certificate of attendance to this Introduction to shamanism. Date Friday 18^th July 2014 - Sunday 20^th July 2014. From Monday 21^st to Friday 25^th July 2014.

The second part of the workshop begins, to gain the most from it you will need to have some energy awareness, for example Reiki II with Acorn to Oak or similar, or you will need to be assessed for energetic awareness by Pennie prior to being accepted onto the course. This is exciting indeed and you will gain a certificate on completing Level One in Shamanic Healing Tools.

Pennie and Luke will also be teaching during this week on Advanced Energetics and how energetics and shamanic tools compliment and enhance each other.
